| My series, ‘mama Doll’ focuses on the Japanese Family system. Many Japanese fathers have little interest in their families and spend a lot of time outside the home. This means that Japanese mothers have a lot of power within the home and they use it to control and discipline their children. I used photographs of real families for the Mama Doll series. I slightly changed the hair and shoulder line only, but I did not change the facial features at all. It is very interesting to see how similar the mothers, daughters and sons are, I was very surprised. |

| 「Mama Doll」という作品は、実在の母親と娘や息子の顔を重ね合わせて、架空の人物をつくり出した作品です。 この作品は、現代の父親不在の中で培われた、母親、娘、息子、の強固な関係を浮き彫りにした作品です。 母親と子供の、非常に精神的に密着した状態を、二人のポートレートを重ねることによって表現しようとしています。変化し続けている親子や家族の関係に問題を投げかけ、一見複雑に見える現代社会を、美術と言う視点から捉え直そうと考えております。 息子は、母親支配の色濃く出る１２歳以下に限定。娘は生涯にわたり影響し合うので年齢は制限していません。 |
